i was wondering how is 2011 going for you?

this year for me is noting starting off great.with everything from a leak roof and water problems to trying to keep my grades up for school.so tell how is your year turning out so far..

Also a good year so far....

fighting "the man" (aka. the body of elders) with cease and desist letters for spying in my windows(hello-invasion of privacy anyone?)- no responce from any of them

full time university student & also trying to keep the grades up- declared a major in art history and trying to decide if I want to declare a minor also (I'm typing here instead of doing homework...so I need to try harder there)

planning to wed coffee shop guy in 2011....no exact date nailed down yet but I am thinking fall wedding (beautiful scenery & my fav season)

I feel really happy today, life is good, glad d is also having a good time

CO's putting the screws on elder bodies, and ministerial servants to auxilliary pioneer this April.

i have such a love/hate, 50/50 relationship with this organization any more, but a letter was read to the elders and ministerial servants that has pushed me to the 30/70 range in favor of hate, if even momentarily.

most of you if not all are aware of the auxilliary pioneering initiative for this upcoming april.

it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.

MLE- I think you are on the right track with planning a "vacation or staycation" during the CO visit...you are not the only elder to pull that one & if you want to stay under the raddar until he exits it might be a good idea. I know I was never an elder, but my exit took place right after a new CO took over our circuit...I only met him once, he wouldn't remember my name, he had no emotional connection to me (where the last one was trying to help me with my husband-abandonment issues). I think if you planned to step down from eldership just as the current CO was doing his last tour of duty (you both dont see eye to eye & he will be preparing to move on anyway and wont want to extend himself to deal with you personally), then you could plan a more accelerated fade when the new CO arrives...

just a suggestion

Wow this sucks

my decision to de-program my mind, about a year ago, has been fairly uneventfull, despite a few intense but very real conversations with my wife and parents.. however in the past couple days my father has pretty much made it clear to me that he will put the gb (not god, although they are pretty much viewed the same) before me.

also tonight the inlaws, who have probly gotten whiff of my inactivity and who never get personal, started to give a lecture on the extreme importance of the family worship arrangement so lovingly arranged for us by the fds, and how if we are not taking advantage of this wonderful provision will not be prepared for armagedon.

i swear blood was gushing from biting my tounge.. im starting to sense that consequences are coming for my sin of independent research and study.

after my initial "blow out" of leaving the cult, things were pretty dormant for about a year until suddenly all the pressure came on full force because the wrong busy body person in a cong. saw me out having dinner with my friend (yea he is my bf, but to the casual observer, he is just a member of the opposite sex)

since my two letters to the cong elders explaining that I have done nothing wrong & cease and desist- nothing again....

I suppose a lot of this pattern is due to CO visits- they happen every six months & sometimes you get a changing of the guard, and a new CO may be strict on following up with inactive ones...I noticed this in my case

Feb. 15th WT - WT Society says DFed Ones are Lawless- Just Like Demons

i would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.

the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".

anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".

It saddens me that I cannot talk to my JW mom about how happy I am, that I am in love, and love learning all sorts of new things at university, that I am excited for my future, the trips me and coffee shop guy are planning, excitement over moving and finding a new job....because then I will be "lawless"

so I just keep quiet and listen to how unhappy my mom is, sick and elderly in this "system"- and I can't comfort her with words because she needs to have her "resurrection in the new order" hope, and she cant change anything because she has to "wait on Jehovah"...

I wish things were different...and articles like these wont change her highly "sensitive bible trained conscience" (as she describes it)

So I just keep quiet even though it kills me inside because I just want the games and hiding to be over, but ending my charade would mean that I am "lawless" and she will have to shun me when she needs me so as a person to listen to her, take her shopping, take care of her to help distract her from the hell she has to go thru in her day to day living in "this system" with my dad dying and saping all the energy out of her...

sorry I will end my rant...these articles make me so sad

our jw contact sent us the " witness only " wt's again and i just had to make a thread on this mind numbing article.

starting on pg.22 in the jan.15th it deals with " coping with discouragement ".

it seems lots of jw's are under intense stress these days ( can you blame them ?

Hi Flipper, they've been playing this same old song and dance for ages...and now that I am separated from that nonsense and can look back on my life in jwland,

I remember those constant articles aimed at barating jw's over and over for "never doing enough"- they just made me increasingly more numb inside- I got to a point where any of the theocratic activities I partook in had no emotional meaning for me...I was just going thru the motions of service, meetings, superficial personal study (aka..underlining paragraphs in my WT)- I got so tired of feeling like I was never good enough that I shut myself down inside.

It has taken me a year or so to wake myself up to focus on issues, stir up a passion inside of me regarding issues that matter to me- such as ideals of democracy and social ethics- the all inclusive idea that we must work together in cooperation as a community to improve our community- this all inclusive idea I was never allowed to entertain as a JW, I feel a beating in my heart and wheels turning inside my brain which make it so easy to wake up in the morning, just to find out what's next in life....not just the same old borring message.

Why I stopped the Bookstudy - Field Service from my home

I also had the BS in my home for about 2 years until my exhusband left- I liked not having to leave the house but it was a chore to come home from work early to clean, get the dog to stay upstairs, and then after such a long day of getting things together...people would linger forever- sometimes it was 11:00pm and I would have to say...I have to go to work in the morning- we had a "dating" couple in our bookstudy and they used our kindness as an excuse to hang out "chaperoned" all frickin nite- I would get so frustrated.

on another note....people's comments earlier in this thread made me remember...

I remember my mom telling me when I asked her as a child why we had small groups for some meetings- she said that the bookstudy was our go-to group when Armageddon began...when the sky started falling and people were comming after us to put us in concentration camps- we were supposed to head to our bookstudy groups to get sprititual food and direction from the faithful and discreet slave..

No wonder we are so messed up

some light relief!.

even now, i can vividly recall buying my very first 45 rpm single in 1967.. i was only just 15 years old.

i worked as a 'paper boy', delivering newspapers to people living nearby.

Mine was a single on cassette tape- it was the cranberries "linger"- I felt so bad since it was -"alternative" music- I was afraid of getting caught with it and having it thrown out (I heard all those assembly parts about parents burning your tapes if they were too worldly). It was laughable because there was nothing bad about the song- i fell in love with alternative from then on and it was the beginning of a slipperly slope that led me here 16yrs later :) (haha, they were right- wordly music does make you sad, hate your life, and leave the truth)

Help: Re: Letter to elders NOT to disfellowship otherwise legal action will be taken

hello there everyone.

i remember reading a while back about someone on here ( i think) that wrote a letter to the body of elders & headoffice that they should not take any action to disfellowship them as they would be distancing them from friends and relatives and would proceed to take legal action if the body of elders went ahead.. if anyone has that link or can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate that..

I am only in the "cease and desist" mode right now because the elders admitted to my mom that they were peeking into my windows- I wrote the cease letter to the elder body, registered a copy with the local police department and sherriff department- I explained that the next action from me if this is ignored is a Personal Protection Order. But I know this would not stop them from DFing me...but I sent the letter 3 weeks ago and no response from anyone

The police department was nice and friendly and only commented that their actions were "really messed up".

Front Load Washers. Are they good?

i have been thinking about getting front load washer for my home, but i have not decided which brand, etc to get.

any recommendations?.

Mad- I think you did really well- $90 a unit is pretty good for surface defects and $539 is about their cost (my store does not go that deep, but it is true that those are last year models and they probably had them on the floor for a while- they really were anxious to sell out that color...those can be the hardest to move, they can sit on this display floor for about a year sometimes)- did they say they were "demo" models? the term "demo" means they were in someone's house and they returned them (and then we put them on the floor because they cannot go back in the boxes), but "display" means that they were just sitting on display-

but the 2301 series has some good feature upgrades-

you can go online and order some LG red paint to go over those scratches if you want, but usually they are not a big deal at all- hell you are guaranteed to scratch them a bit over time when you drag your laundry basket over them-

i would copy and paste my emails with my mom, but that would probably be too revealing.. anyway, i said in a post a while back that i was going to tell my mom i no longer want anything to do with the organization.

there have been a series of emails between the two of us lately and she was probing to see what was going on with me.

i haven't been out in fs in almost a year and i haven't been to a thursday night mtg in over 9 months.

Soldier- It does feel good to liberate yourself of what you have pent-up inside to your mom! you never know how she will react until it happens..but it seems from what you described as past behavior from her...she will still accept you and not "shun" you.

It always seems like a "hard core" dub's first suggestion is to tell the elders everything, she is programmed to think you have to spill your guts all the time...it takes getting a step back from the organization to realize that your life is your own, and "your heart" or I should say "your relationship with God" is no one else's business!
